Local websites, such as Despegar.com, Setours, and PriceTravel, were three of the most used ones for bookings.
In 2017 online booking websites for hotels contributed to 87% of all of the touristic reservations made in the country through SiteMinder, according to information from El Comercio.
SiteMinder counts with over 28,000 hotels on their website, 550 of them being principal providers of this tourism sector.
Some of the most popular channels for online hotel reservations are Tablet Hoteles and Hotusa, with users coming mainly from the United States and Spain, informed Rubi Pérez, SiteMinder LATAM director. Nevertheless, the most popular one, ranking first place is Booking.com.
“Now, the United States is the second largest source of tourist arrivals to the country”, El Comercio says.
But also websites such as Despegar.com, Setours, and PriceTravel are in the top ten of the list among local users. Others that are frequently used are Hostel World; Tourico Holidays; Sun Hotels; Orbitz, Best Day; GTA; Hotel Beds; and Expedia.
This ranking is based on 72 million reservations made through distribution channels connected to SiteMinder. In total, they’ve generated around $21,530 million dollars in gross income from clients in 28,000 hotels around the world in 2017, informs El Comercio.
