Peru will play Switzerland in an international friendly ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) announced Tuesday.
The FPF can confirm that Peru will face Switzerland on Tuesday, June 3, in Lucerne at 20:30 local time,’ the federation said via Twitter.
The match will be played at Swissporarena, the home ground of Swiss Super League side FC Lucerne, and will be the first-ever international between the teams.
Switzerland have been drawn Ecuador and Honduras, as well as France, in their World Cup group, leading coach Ottmar Hitzfeld to prioritize pre-tournament friendlies against Central and South American nations.
In addition to Peru, the Swiss will face Jamaica and Croatia before the start of soccer’s biggest event on June 12 in Brazil.
Four days before the match against Ottmar Hitzfeld’s men, La Blanquirroja will play Brazil-bound England at Wembley in London.Though Peru’s team is still without a coach, they’ve already scheduled friendly matches with some formidable opponents
