President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski (PPK) said on Monday that he was “elected for a five-year term (2016-2021) and affirmed he will not resign due to baseless allegations”, wrote Andina.
These remarks were made during a ceremony for the opening of the 3rd Meeting of Iberoamerican Integration and the Pacific Alliance.
Several Congressmen have been trying to get a presidential vacancy approved based on PPK’s links with the Odebrecht scandal, but PPK assured that “it’s not a personal issue” and he will complete his mandate since it is an institutional issue.
The source also said that the Head of State addressed the media saying that “there is now a communist group promoting a new impeachment attempt; since the first one failed, [they say] let’s find another reason, and that is the pardon to Fujimori.”
PPK explained that he will defend himself against anyone that says that he will be resigning. He also invited these people to listen to the opinion of “those who want progress, water access, and education for their children”, Andina informed.
