Startup Perú announced that the international enterprise PowerMundo was selected for the Grant for Dynamic and High Impact Entrepreneur, according to a press release provided to _Living in Peru_.

The award was given after PowerMundo submitted their proposal, “Improving Lives with Solar Energy, Innovative Financing, and New Digital Technology.”

Startup Perú is awarding PowerMundo about US$ 45,000 and support from their experts to help build and develop their social enterprise in Peru.

Peru stepping up in renewable energy

Startup Perú, part of the Ministry of Production, is an initiative that supports and promotes young Peruvian companies that focus on innovation and services. They support enterprises with high technological input and that seek to solve complex problems with creative solutions.

PowerMundo completed these requirements as their mission is to promote the use of clean technologies and to facilitate the way users pay for them.

To solve the problem of payment, PowerMundo is implementing their pay-as-you-go (PAYG) financing technology. It allows end-users to digitally pay for solar energy in weekly installments.

With the help of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), PowerMundo is now utilizing PAYG projects. And with the help of Startup Perú, they will distribute larger solar PAYG systems with greater capabilities.
