Everybody Loves a Parade!

Photos by Julián Igue

Everybody Loves a Parade! On Sunday, September 6th, Miraflores came alive with the "Corso de Wong" (Lima's Independence Day Parade). The event had been scheduled to coincide with Lima's Independence day (the 28th of July), but was postponed due to concerns of AH1N1. The massive crowd that was there to witness the spectacle didn't seem to mind the change of dates in the least, and they all waved their Peruvian flags with proud enthusiasm. There was plenty to see as well as the parade marched on for several hours featuring great music, great dancing, and tremendous displays. Below are some pictures from the event, which is just one more reason to plan your trip to Peru!

How beautiful are these photos!   They remind me of the time I spent in Lima, of the vibrancy and color of the festivals, of the joy when  people celebrate, and of the songs and dances that characterize the fiestas.

I confess they have provoked in me some beautiful memories of the city and of the people, even though that was now 16 years ago (1991-1993).   Perhaps one day I will have the privilege and joy of returning to visit the city where I lived for 2 years. ¡Ojala que sí!

Greetings to all peruvians, at home and overseas,
from australia.
Peter.

"My friends" this is only a little piece of the big ones that Peru have for You. I understand that this is one of the first parades in Lima, sponsored for the WONG supermarkets chain, but I am sure that pretty soon will be bigger than the parades in New York or in Pasadena for the variety of folklore, music, color, happiness, beauties, cartoons and the good people.
Because this parade is displayed in the down town of Miraflores county, equally you can enjoy with the ww well known peruvian food in the restaurants of the area, the scenery of the sunset and the ocean view, as well as the crafts of the artisans the weekends in the Miraflores square among others... marvelous!!!
Go and visit PERU that any time of the year there are somethings special for You like this one in the coast, in the mountains or in the jungle as well as in the north, in the center or in the south and ENJOY... believe me, you will come back !!!

This is only one of the many reasons that you have to decide to come to visit Peru.
Its wonderful beaches in the north, the tropical and beautiful jungle and the beauty landscapes of the highlands make my country of the most beautiful countries to visit.
