Tremor in Lima Last Night of 4.7 With Epicenter in Callao


Via Twitter, the Geophysical Institute of Peru reported quake of 4.7 on the Richter scale.

The epicenter was recorded 36 kilometers southwest of Callao. In social networks, users have reacted in diverse ways to this strong telluric movement.

During the whole year, many earthquakes such as the one in the central area and the one in Piura; these repeated episodes of the telluric movement have caused the decision to strengthen buildings in case of earthquakes. The last one was yesterday in Lima, measuring 4.7 degrees on the Richter scale, according to the Peruvian Geophysical Institute (IGP).

Through its official Twitter account, the IGP reported that the telluric movement occurred around 7:07 pm and the epicenter was 36 km southwest of Callao.

Also, the entity reported that the quake had a depth of 36 kilometers. It is important to note that no injuries or material damage have been reported by this earthquake. In case of a tremor, we must remain calm and immediately locate the safest places in the house. It is also necessary to have the emergency backpack.

Various people and personalities have used their social networks to show their reactions to this strong earthquake that occurred in Callao and that was felt throughout Lima. The reactions of the citizens who felt the earthquake have been diverse; on one hand, some have recommended keeping calm and others mention having the ’emergency pack’ always at hand. However, others criticize the fact that some users prefer to share their impressions on social networks rather than getting safe or assisting others.
