More Than 2 Billion Soles Have Been Invested in the Reconstruction of the North

The most affected region last year by El Niño Costero was Piura where already more than a million Soles have been invested for reconstruction.

The Decentralized Minister Council held a session on Sunday to review the progress of the reconstruction of those areas affected by El Niño Costero almost a year ago, informed El Comercio.

Ten months after the creation of the authority “Reconstruction with Changes” (ARCC), El Comercio says that there are still evident delays in the reconstruction of the affected areas.

“According to the El Comercio-Ipsos survey published in mid-January, 81% of those informed about this process considered that little or no progress has been made in recent months”, the news website explains.

The meeting held last Sunday was presided by president Pedro Pablo Kuczynski (PPK), the president of the Minister Council, Mercedes Aráoz; and the Chief of ARCC, Edgar Quispe.

The director of ARCC said that his entity has already transferred more than 2,000 million 200 soles in the last 9 months for the financing of 362 interventions in the affected areas. “The list is led by Piura – the most affected region – with 1,009 million Soles invested”, informs El Comercio.

Reconstruction with Changes has finished so far 11 reconstruction projects in the main avenues in Piura, Chiclayo, and Trujillo for more than 11 million Soles. As for sanitation, there are 4 projects that have already started in Nuevo Catacos (Piura), other regions of Chiclayo, and in Lima Provincias.
