A total of 524 districts of the Peruvian highlands and jungle are at very high risk of landslides, informed the National Center for Estimation, Prevention and Reduction of Disaster Risk (Cenepred).
“According to a notice issued by the National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology of Peru (Senamhi), a new rainy season is expected in the mountains and jungle of the country as of tomorrow”, reported El Comercio today.
In addition, 72 other districts present the same risk. These are 19 in Cajamarca, 16 in Amazonas; 15 in San Martín, 5 in Huánuco and Ayacucho, 4 in Puno, 2 in Cusco, Junín, Loreto and Pasco.
