This change was approved unanimously yesterday. In 2014 the University Law established that the maximum age limit was 70 years.

Tourism and economy are not the only to areas where Peru is showing superior development. Peru is also increasing its educational level.

For primary and high-school, teachers received a test in order to evaluate their capabilities and check if they were eligible for a raise. Regarding superior education, 3 Peruvian universities are part of the top 100 Latin American universities: the National University of San Marcos (UNMSM) in the 82 position, the Peruvian University Cayetano Heredia (UPCH) in the 68th position and the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) in the 25th position.

Now, the Committee for Education, Youth and Sports approved yesterday the draft opinion that extends the age limit for university teaching. During the second extraordinary session, it was unanimously approved amending article 84 of Law No. 30220 from University Law, extending the age limit for university teaching to 75 years.

In 2014 the University Law established the maximum age limit of 70 years for the teaching and administrative positions of teachers in public universities. The ability to keep teaching after turning 70 years old, along with the talent and passion for the profession delivered by many professional educators has been one of the reasons behind this amendment.

Do you think this is a good decision? Have you ever thought a professor was too old to keep teaching?
