Peru’s high jungle is movin’ on up.
The quaint and rustic town of Oxapampa, located in the _selva alta_, is known for its A-framed wooden houses dirt roads, and of course delicious coffee. But take one look at the new Alpental Condiminiums and you may just spit your coffee out in disbelief that such a residential area has sprung up in Chontabamba – five minutes from Oxa’s town plaza.
Some familiar shapes make an appearance, but additions like a gated entrance speak a bit differently from the common culture of an open and friendly jungle town.
