Corporate tourism sector in Peru is expected to increase by 10 percent in 2014 driven by the upcoming major international meetings, congresses and forums, Peruvian Deputy Tourism Minister, Jose Miguel Gamarra, has said.
We have ahead two very interesting years with important events, not necessarily for their own dimensions, but for their quality,’ the top government official told Andina News Agency.
In this regard, Gamarra noted the Ollanta Humala’s administration will convene the private sector, guilds and the country’s Convention Bureau in order to secure quality events by setting up a more effective coordination mechanism.
Therefore, this measure reaffirms the great commitment of the entrepreneurs to secure Peru to succeed in hosting each of these events in the best possible manner,’ he said in his remarks at the international seminar ‘New Trends and Practices of Business Tourism’.
Moreover, the official stressed his sector is working on attracting private sector investment with the aim of meeting the increasing demand for greater accommodation, high quality tourism facilities and infrastructure in Peru’s capital Lima.
The international forum was attended by Eduardo Chaillo, former Meetings Executive Director at the Mexico Tourism Board.
