Vidawasi is a new pediatric cancer hospital being built in Peru and the Vatican has recently communicated their support to this initiative.
The hospital is located in the city of Yanahuara in the Urusco district of Cusco in a plot of more than 12 hectares. Its main goal: help children with cancer.
On August 10 the Apostolic Nuncio in Peru Nicola Girasoli and the Archbishop of Cusco, Richard Alarcón, who represent the Vatican in Peru, announced the support and approval of this project.
“’Vidawasi is a blessing for all Peruvians – said Archbishop Girasoli – because it is a work that is being done with heart and solidarity, where all children with cancer will find the cure of their ailments and the tranquility they need thanks to the strategic location of this center in the Sacred Valley of the Incas”, you can read in Vatican News.
In addition, Jesús Dongo, founder of Vidawasi, thanked the Catholic Church for their support and for being one of the first institutions to do so alongside the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital, the Puigvert Foundation of Barcelona, the Teletón Hospital for Oncological Children of Mexico and the St. Jude from Hospital the United States.
“Jesús Dongo’s main objective, founder of the non-governmental organization Vidawasi, is to help low-income patients suffering from a malignant neoplastic”, Vatican News explained.
