La verdad de la milanesa is a Spanish saying that talks about a hidden truth in things. Say, for instance, your friends invite you to dinner knowing that you’ll pay their bill. The verdad de la milanesa, in this case, would be you paying for them although they invited you.
Upon entering the restaurant, La Verdad de la Milanesa, you are greeted with fried seasoned lentils to snack on and a smooth atmosphere to relax in, all of which has been generated by the owners. Who are the owners? Four friends who quit their steady jobs to do something together, to be their own bosses, to make some money, and to have some fun with it.
Now, a milanesa (Spanish) is a floured and fried piece of meat similar to a weinerschnitzel and is a staple in the Peruvian day to day diet. La Verdad de la Milanesa restaurant takes the milanesa to a new extreme. They take a milanesa (Beef; Fish; Chicken; Eggplant) and top it off with whatever ingredient youd wish (well maybe not any ingredient).
Most of the options involve a cheese (such as their artisanal mozzarella) coupled with a sauce like a huachana sausage pomodoro paired off with any of their sides which consists of fries, pasta, rice, or salad. They have other options too, like pastel de choclo that they fill with the same options for the milanesas or a quinoa salad which Jenny Craig probably wouldn’t recommend. The portions are huge! Loaded with all the good gooey stuff, perfect for sweater weather and a Netflix binge.
The dcor is casual with the friendly unimposing kitsch hanging on the wall. Along with a huge ever-changing selection of craft beers, makes this place an all around great place to just let the glutton in you feast. Just reviewing the pictures makes my mouth salivate.
