Tourists will be able to travel normally through national territory on October 22, the day of the 2017 national census.
Tourism companies will be allowed to move their vehicles freely to ensure their proper functioning, said the Head of the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), Dr. Aníbal Sánchez Aguilar.
Tourists will be able to register in the District Census Office of the terrestrial terminal of the airport when they arrive. Once registered, they will receive a “Memorandum of Personal Identification”, which will be used to move to their home, accommodation or to their place of embarkation, depending on the case, in the vehicles allowed to circulate during census day.
Companies in the tourism sector will carry out their activities normally, that includes: Travel and Tourism Agencies, Lodging Establishments, Restaurants, Official Tourist Guides and other providers of tourism services. Likewise, museums, monuments, protected natural areas and their buffer zones will operate during their normal schedules. Workers in the tourism sector who work on October 22, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. will go through a special registration process during this week; they must be registered at the District Census Office corresponding to their hometown, no later than this October 20, for which they will carry a letter signed by the employer and addressed to the Chief of the District Census Bureau requesting special registration.
As it was mentioned yesterday, activities in Cusco will be carried out normally and tickets will be sold just like any other day.
