Explore the fantastic landscapes of Peru with Global Xplorer.
Archaeologist and professor Sarah Parcak, winner of the 2016 TED prize, managed to explore and discover archaeological sites from space using satellite images, analyzing them using complex algorithms to see changes in vegetation.
The project was officially launched in January 2017 and the first place to be investigated was Peru, elected as the first for its incredibly vast archaeological heritage; an incredible opportunity for Peruvian and archeology lovers to discover and continue searching the wonderful history of the country.
Her vision the Global Xplorer Project is an online platform that allows anyone to search and give notice of possible archaeological sites and warn of damage or threats to heritage. This platform is a wonderful way to involve all and anyone who wishes to help discover the bounty of Peru!
In coordination with Sustainable Preservation Initiative, sustainable development programs are being planned with communities surrounding archaeological sites, involving the local population in the project.
