Most likely due to infractions committed during the wild card playoff with New Zealand.
More bad news for the FPF, after the sanctioning of captain, Paolo Guerrero, this time with economic fines. Through its web portal, FIFA announced that Peru would be fined for committing infractions in the playoff games against New Zealand. In the first leg, Peru delivered the team list late and prevented the game from starting at the scheduled time. The second leg violations included: invasion of the press and the presence of green lasers from the stands. The fines total USD $ 12,730.
This is the 12th sanction for the FPF, taking into account infractions after matches against Venezuela, Colombia, and Ecuador. Most notably, Peru was fined USD $25,000 for against Colombia. The FPF is currently the association which has had received the biggest number of sanctions during this pre-World Cup process.
Nevertheless, the worst sanction so far is the one imposed to Paolo Guerrero, banning him from the World Cup. However, his lawyers say they will appeal the controversial ruling.
