A helicopter headed to the Maria Reiche airport in Nazca crashed on Thursday, according to rescue team members on location. It is reported that the incident occurred midday, outside of the Puquio district. The helicopter was privately owned by a company from Ayacucho, a southeastern region of Peru.
The causes for the crash are still under investigation by authorities. The two victims however have been confirmed as having been the pilots of the helicopter.
The aircraft was supposedly being used at the time to transport workers of a power line company, despite the helicopter´s intended use to be for tourism, mining, building and oil companies.
The Thursday crash claimed two lives and left one passenger injured.
