HVS: How was South America’s hotel market in 2015? (PHOTOS)

Dollar and rising inflation, falling GDP, higher interest rates and a deteriorating fiscal situation hit the hotel sector last year in South America, said the recent annual publication of HVS/Hotelinvest.

In partnership with STR, the second edition of Panorama de la Hotelería Sudamericana,’ which presents and analyzes the performance of the sector in some of the major markets in the region, was published.

According to the report, the hotel industry showed declines in occupancy, revenue per available room (RevPAR) and average daily rate (except for the Lima market). The dollar and inflation have been rising over the years, but just how has it affected the hotel market?
