iPhone 5S and 5C now available in Peru

Many a Peruvian Apple fan has languished for months, green with envy, while she watches her Facebook feed fill up with posts by international friends who were able to get their hands on the iPhone 5S in late September. Well, I have some good news, gadget lovers: both the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C are now available through Claro right here in Peru.

El Comercio reports that, as of today, the new iPhone models can be purchased in the cities of Lima, Arequipa, and Trujillo.

The iPhone 5S is reportedly only available in gray and gold in Peru; the El Comercio post lacks any mention of the white model. The Latin Post reported yesterday that the gold model has not sold well in the United States, but has found international success, selling well in China, Hong Kong, and Australia.

The iPhone 5C, which comes in five different cheery colors, has been marketed as a less expensive option for a younger market.

According to El Comercio, the Claro store at Plaza San Miguel was open at midnight in order to sell the new iPhone models to eager technophiles.

Despite searching, we were unable to find the sale price of either model on Claro’s website. Latest models from Apple are now available for purchase through Claro in Lima, Arequipa, and Trujillo.
