TripAdvisor ranks Museo Larco in the 22nd position for being rated as “excellent” or “very good” by 96% of visitors.
TripAdvisor, one of the most important travel advice websites, published the ranking of the 25 best museums in the world in 2017 and the Larco Museum located in Pueblo Libre ranked in the 22nd position.
This is the first time that a Peruvian museum is part of this list.
Thus, in the case of the Larco Museum, 96% of visitors rated it as “excellent” or “very good”. One of the comments that stand out, makes the point that “the museum has so many pieces that one can get lost”.
The top contenders on the list are the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The MET) in New York, followed by the National Museum of the Second World War in New Orleans, and the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, France.
Andrés Álvarez, director of Larco Museum, celebrated the recognition and claimed “I’m happy to be part of this prestigious list sharing this ranking with museums such as the Metropolitan of New York, the Louvre and the D’Orsay in Paris, ‘El Prado’ in Madrid and the National Gallery in London, it is an honor that we humbly believe we do not deserve. However, what this ranking measures is not the size and importance of the collections of a museum but the level of satisfaction that visitors refer to after their visit.”
On the TripAdvisor list of the world’s best tourist attractions, Machu Picchu has always been in the top 10 places. In the “World’s 50 Best Restaurants” list Peru has 3 restaurants. Now, for the first time, a Peruvian museum is on the list of the 25 best museums in the world. Another reason to be proud of being Peruvian.
