Light tremors shake Lima and Arequipa

A 3.9-magnitude earthquake shook Lima early Tuesday morning.

According to Peru’s Geophysical Institute (IGP), the quake occurred at 1:50 am.

The earthquake’s epicenter was located 37 kilometers southwest of the Peruvian capital, and had a depth of 47 kilometers.

On Monday night a separate earthquake shook the city of Arequipa, in the southern region of Peru.

According to Peru’s Geophysical Institute, the quake had a magnitude of 4.3 degrees on the Richter scale, and occurred at 6:25pm.

The earthquake’s epicenter was located 34 kilometers southwest of the district of Ocoña, and had a depth of 45 kilometers, the IGP said.

The country’s Civil Defense Institute reported no damages or injuries from either earthquake, Peru21 said.
