Today marks the official start of fall, and temperatures in Lima and Callao are expected to drop in the coming days, Peru21 reported.

According to Senamhi, the country’s national weather service, temperatures could drop to as low as 15 degrees Celsius (59 Fahrenheit) over the next week.

Ricardo Durand, a meteorologist at Senamhi, said cold temperatures were expected in several areas of the capital, driven by strong winds from southern Peru.

“Although there are days in which the minimum temperature will not drop below 20 degrees, there are days in which it will reach 15 degrees early in the morning,” Durand said, according to Peru21.

The coldest temperatures, he said, are likely to occur between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m.
