>The investigation is due to the ‘staged’ >presentation of 101 Serenazgo vehicles on January 15, despite lacking license plates, SOAT vehicle insurance, and were not ready to begin patrolling the streets.

The investigation begun after Luis Tudela, head of the recall group against Villaran, filed a claim. Medina is reportedly evaluating whether to cite the mayor, Prado, and other city officials involved in the case.

On Wednesday, Eduardo Zegarra, deputy mayor of Lima, admitted that Villaran was aware of the facts of the case. “The mayor did know that these units could not be deployed at the time,” he said, adding that car’s plates would be delivered in 10 days.
