Lima to see rain and overcast skies until Sunday

Overcast skies and rain are expected to continue in Lima until the end of this week, according to the country’s national weather service (Senamhi).

Raquel Loayza, a Senamhi meteorologist said the weather was due to strong winds in the country’s central coast, Peru21 reported.

The Peruvian capital, Loayza said, will likely see drizzle, overcast skies, and high levels of humidity until Sunday.

"This rain has been strong for the month of October. If we were in September it could be normal, but for October this is unusual,” she said.

“[The rain] is due to the Paracas winds that occurred in the central coast, particularly in Ica, days ago, and that has created atmospheric instability.”

The districts that will be most affected, Loayza said, would be in the areas south of the capital, such as Villa el Salvador, Villa Maria del Triunfo, and San Juan de Miraflores.
