Lima’s Metropolitano to extend hours in 2013

Lima is considering extending service hours for the Metropolitano bus system.

According to Juan Tapia Grillo, president of ProTransporte, the service could expand hours and run until midnight, starting in the first few months of 2013.

If the plan were approved, the Metropolitano busses would run from the Naranjal station in Comas, to the Matellini station in Chorrillos, every 15 minutes, RPP reported.

“This is an issue on the agenda, and we want to make it happen as soon as possible, due to the demand we have. We are making all the necessary technical evaluations, and observing data and surveys,” said Hernando Navarro, operations manager at ProTransporte.

>Extending the Metropolitano’s hours could be the first step in >providing 24-hour bus service, RPP said.
