A holiday in Northern Peru combines varied offers, including exclusive resorts, family friendly hotels, and spiritual retreats. Here is a look at the different options.
*Elegance and Privacy*
The transformation of the hotel Las Arenas en Arennas took over 18 months and involved the work of architects Gonzalo Garcia and German Margozzini. The result: traditional accommodation converted into a five star hotel with notably refined decoration.
The renovation was intended to make the guests feel like they are on the terrace of their own beach house – but with all of the attention available at a luxury hotel – and with the architecture taking a back seat to the sand, the palm trees, and the sea, the three main points of the experience here.
Perhaps the only thing that could distract from this landscape are the elaborate dishes on the menu of chef Enrique Aviles. His creations feel – and taste – of Japanese and fusion influences with Peruvian ingredients. The tuna tartar or the land and sea stir-fry will require more than one trip to the restaurant.
*Space for the Family*
In the zone above Las Pocitas, about 150 meters from the beach, is located Villas del Mar, a hotel of many gardens, that was opened just a year and a half ago and is not the conventional choice – not being located on the beach, in order to offer freedom, privacy, and an unmatched view from the top of a hill. The environment ensures the security necessary to visit with young children and the calm needed to share the space with couples.
For facilities, there is an organic garden, a clay oven, and a citrus orchard to offer guests fresh fruit.
For accommodation, you have two options. On the one hand, there is a two-story house that has room for up to ten people, with its own terrace and swimming pool, barbecue, and laundry. Ideal for groups of friends or extended family gatherings. On the other hand, you can stay in a cozy villa, available for couples or families.
*Freshness and Modernity*
The fresh and modern choice brings Mancora Marina Hotel, open since 2010. It has all of the amenities that characterize luxury resorts. All of the rooms, resplendent in white, have balconies facing the ocean. The pool of 30 meters extends along the beach appears to fuse with the horizon.
*A Spiritual Retreat*
If you’re looking to connect with yourself and enter into a dialogue with the eternal spirit, Kichic is the place to do it. This boutique hotel, opened just two months ago, is an old remodeled mansion, and seeks with its architecture and decoration to provoke the sensations that awaken the body, the mind and the soul. In fact, the menu accompanies this philosophy: it offers vegetarian dishes, vegan choices, and raw-food specialities that make us conscious of our nutrition and nourishment.
There is also a meditation center that offers introspective workshops. You can forget about TV and Wi-Fi, because the hotel has neither. Instead, you can have a splendid view of the sea, a five-star mattress, and 400 thread-count sheets to relax like never before.
