New payment gadget arrives in Peru: It accepts any card from all over the world

A new type of pocket Point Of Sale (POS), also named Point Of Purchase (POP), is arriving soon in Peru. Unlike the current POS, the device will be available to process all credit or debit cards, and special cards, such as cards related with food/grocery services or bonuses paid by many employers across the country.

And yes, it will accept even foreign cards.
The gadget, imported by local company IZIPAY, doesn’t need a smartphone to operate. It’s wireless and just uses a chip to be connected with Internet.
This POS system works 24 hours and seven days per week, and the options to pay are unlimited, according to IZIPAY spokesman. Debit and credit cards, and others cards, from Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Diners, Oh!, Ripley, CMR Falabella, Cencosud, Bonus, Sodexo, Provis, UnionPay, JCB, Discover, Maestro, are some of the options of a long list that will be accepted for payments.
As another advantage, the new device allows the cardholder to sign on the POS screen and receive the bill of the transaction in his email or through a text message (SMS) to his cell phone number. With this feature, retailers and entrepreneurs won’t need two POP in their stores to distinguish between credits or debit sales.
Felipe Venturo, IZIPAY’s General Manager, explained that micro businesses are the most benefited. Considering these organizations represent only 5% of credit or debit card transactions in Peru. “It is a great opportunity to work with this economic segment that is growing dynamically in most of the national territory”, said Venturo.
