The Peru vs New Zealand match is one of the most attractive in terms of repechage for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
After confirming the dates and times of the round-trip matches from the oceanic country the New Zealand team CEO said they expect a hostile atmosphere in Lima. All Whites’ Andy Martin said they hoped to create an atmosphere similar to what they achieved when they qualified for the 2010 World Cup when they overcame Bahrain.
Peruvian soccer fans have responded to New Zealand Football CEO Andy Martin’s request for All Whites’ fans to be hostile towards Peru in their upcoming World Cup qualifier. In a video posted to Facebook, the fans showed just how much support they’ll be giving their team and suggested Martin was messing with the wrong country.
“We want to re-create that atmosphere on November 11. We need all New Zealand behind the All Whites, as they are looking to make history and qualify for the FIFA World Cup. We know that when we arrive in Peru we will expect a very hostile environment, so we hope our fans can create an environment that gives our boys a big boost in the opening match of the playoffs,” added the Martin.
Peru is looking to qualify for their first World Cup since 1982 (more than 35 years without being able to qualify for a World Cup), and head into the two-legged qualifier as massive favorites.
Peru vs New Zealand will face each other on the 11th and 15th of November, first in Wellington and then in Lima. The first game, we will see in Peru at 10:15 pm Friday (4:15 pm Saturday in New Zealand). The second game at the National Stadium will be played at 9:15 pm.
