Peru’s Foreign Minister Jose Antonio Garcia Belaunde told the press that the ambassador of Peru in Santiago, Carlos Pareja, has returned to Chile, after the tensions generated between the two countries due to the recent espionage case, involving a Peruvian Air Force NCO.

Pareja had been called back to Lima as soon as the espionage case was unveiled by the media.

"I will only say that this is just a process, and nothing else. Pareja is going back to Santiago because the consultations stage is over. He will be working tomorrow,” said Garcia Belaunde to Radio Cooperativa (Chile).
