Peru: Citizens and tourists invited to join New Year’s Eve party at Lima’s Main Square

Peruvians and foreign tourists have been invited to join a special New Year’s Eve celebration with music, dancing, culture and fireworks.

Tonight’s big event will be held at Lima’s Plaza Mayor (Main Square) in the heart of the Peruvian capital.

As several cities around the world, Lima will have its own cultural and artistic New Year’s celebration, with the participation of Peruvian President Alan Garcia Perez, state ministers and senior government officials.

After the fraternal greeting and the ringing of bells, fireworks will illuminate the sky to welcome the arrival of 2010.

The minister invited citizens and foreign tourists to participate in this event in Lima, and also in Cusco and Colca Canyon in Arequipa, where similar celebrations are being prepared.

He clarified that the organization of this festival will not incur any expense to the state because it is carried out with private contributions.

We expect that next year more cities in Peru will have these celebrations which are the delight of tourists, said the minister.

Perez made this invitation at the end of the meeting of the Council of Ministers at the Government Palace.
