Peru’s prawn generate business opportunities with EU

The Chamber of Commerce of Lima (CCL) reported that Peruvian industries dedicated to prawn processing have lots of opportunities in Europe, especially in France, Holland and Belgium.

The CCL states that even though this sector was affected too by international crisis, there are clear signs of recovery, as well as interest from possible new markets.

They reported that global sales of frozen prawn to EU totaled US $ 7.84 million dollars, which means a 18% drop compared to the same period in 2008.

“However, frozen prawns still register the best sales to this market,” they say.

Moreover, Spain and France increased their purchases in 50.3% and 45.5% respectively.
