Public payphones will be free to use, without any charge, in all the areas of Cusco and Apurimac that have been affected by the rains, reported a press release from Telefonica del Peru.

Almost 350 payphones located on the streets (not the ones placed inside shops or businesses) will be free for everyone’s use, so that people can ask for help and communicate with relatives in other regions of the country.

People will be able to make local and nationwide calls during three days starting today; this period could be extended if required.

Users need to insert a coin of any denomination, which will be returned after the call is over.

Telefonica del Peru has also setup two hotlines to the Civil Defense Emergency Center: 084 -241449 and 084-241394.
