Peruvian composer’s Cumbia songs delight Viña del Mar audience

Chilean singer Americo won the Viña del Mar Festival last night with two Silver Seagulls thanks to his interpretation of songs written by Peruvian composer Estanis Mogollon.

“Te vas, te vas”, “El Embrujo”, “Que levante la mano”, “Tendria que llorar por ti” and “Me enamore de ti”, among others, thrilled the “monster” – which is how the audience of Viña del Mar is known – and placed him as the winner so far.

According to “all his hits were sung along by thousands of Cumbia lovers and for moments the shouting was even deafening. His performance was simple but effective, accompanied by his band”.

“I’m very happy, very satisfied. (…) I feel incredibly good, and let me tell you that dreams can come true,” said Americo.

The Chilean singer traveled to Peru to visit composer Estanis Mogollon and take him to one of his concerts in Chile, where Americo introduced him as the author of the Cumbia hits he performs.
