Peru: Soccer club disqualified from local tournament due to conflict between sponsorsYesterday, after a heated assembly of delegates at the Sporting Association of Professional Soccer (ADFP), Universitario was disqualified from Peruvian soccer tournament after using Star Peru airline carrier logo at players shirts last game against Sporting Cristal.

The majority of delegates of the ADFP voted against Universitario de Deportes position, report El Comercio and Semana Económica.

After the deal with Star Peru airline carrier worth US$300,00, Universitario was separated from the 2010 Descentralizado Championship, unless they accept to show Lan Peru logo in their shirts from the next game.

Lan Peru is the official airline of the tournament.

Juan Carlos Noli, treausurer of Universitario pointed that article 12 of the rules of the tournament allows them to negotiate a separated deal with another company, Star Peru in this case.

According to La Republica web page, Alianza Lima refrained from giving its vote and Club Cienciano was absent; the other 13 clubs voted in favor of the suspension from the tournament.

El Comercio web page says Alianza Lima, Juan Aurich and Sport Huancayo refrained from giving a vote at the assembly and only Universitario voted against the punishment.
