US-based Wal-Mart submitted, via the Chilean company Distribucion y Servicios, an offer to acquire 65% of the shares that it does not own in Supermercados Alvi, managed by the Villablanca family and with presence currently in Peru.
Chilean Alvi has the control of Mayorsa, one of the main large whosalers chain in Peru, that holds 61.65% of the shares.
Mayorsa also owns the minimarket chain Sonko.
The purchasing process is currently subject to the results of the operative, legal, financial and taxes due dilligence, report Semana Economica and Gestion.
