Bill Clinton says tax collection should benefit children and teens in PeruDuring an interview exclusive for RPP Radio, former US President Bill Clinton said that he asked President Alan Garcia to allocate part of the tax collection to benefit children and teens in Peru.

He disclosed that they also talked about Clinton Foundation’s work in Peru regarding public health and mitigating environmental pollution.

"We discussed on our foundation’s work with children in Peru, to help them overcome very difficult situations, and we also talked about how to use tax collection to benefit children and teens,” he said.

Clinton highlighted Garcia’s commitment with Peru’s development and modernization.

"He is very enthusiastic, and he’s really committed with this goal. This was a really interesting conversation,” said Clinton.

He noted that his foundation is helping Lima with the installation of high-efficiency lamps that will replace current public semaphores, allowing to save US $1.5 million per year.

"These lamps consume only 10% of the energy that the old ones consume,” Clinton said, adding also that this is an intelligent system that will allow a more efficient control of public transit, reducing the congestion and thus the CO2 emissions.”
