OAS Assembly in Lima consolidates Peru’s worldwide promotion, says Minister

Foreign Trade and Tourism minister, Martín Perez, stressed that carrying out the 40th Organization of American States (OAS) General Assembly in Lima has contributed to the promotion of Peru in the world.

v He pointed out that the organization of this event, which gathered the Foreign ministers of the Americas, ratifies us as appropriate hosts for these kinds of major meetings.

Previously in 2008, Peru hosted the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum and the European Union-Latin America and the Caribbean Summit (EU-LAC).

Perez said that these kinds of events also contribute to continue having Peru as the ‘it’ country of the moment, for focusing the attention of the media as source of information and presenting its main tourist attractions.

“The flattering comments on our economy and main tourist attractions from the attendees of this hemispheric meeting contribute with Peru to continue as the ‘it’ country and be considered a place to visit” emphasized the minister.

He also indicated that the Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry, along with Peru’s Export and Tourism Promotion Board (Promperú), is developing a number of activities on order to take advantage of the attendance of Peruvian delegations to different international forums.

“We recently attended at an APEC meeting and all the representatives, who with we got together, praise the Peruvian economy’s good position.”
