Peru joins international group against Arizona immigration law

Peru officially joined the group of countries and organizations called "Friends of the Court," that strongly support a lawsuit filed against the Arizona law that criminalizes undocumented immigrants, according to Chancellor Jose A. García Belaunde, shown here.

The foreign minister also reminded that this law has been challenged by the U.S. Justice Department itself, and some non-governmental organizations in that country have also started actions against the norm.

"This initiative of being ‘Friends of the court’ started in Mexico, which has a large number of immigrants, and many other countries are joining, as we did today,” said Garcia Belaunde in the Special Commission Peruvians Abroad Congress.
