Peru’s Contracorriente wins award at OutFest in Los Angeles

Peruvian film Undertow (Contracorriente), directed by Peruvian-born Javier Fuentes Leon, won another international award.

The movie won the “Special Prize for Artistic Achievement” at the OutFest festival in Los Angeles.

The film got a standing ovation last Wednesday when it was exhibited in a festival in Hollywood, California.

Javier Fuentes-Leon commented that the audience included Randal Kleiser, director of movies like Grease and Blue Lagoon.

"After the screening of the movie and the standing ovation, Randal Kleiser came up to me with tears in his eyes to congratulate me for the movie. It was an amazing moment,” the director said.

Undertow will be exhibited in Lima on August 26 and then will be screened in England and Spain.
