According to the Peruvian foreign ministry, President Alan Garcia rejects the recent events in Ecuador, where police are rebelling against the government in protest for an alleged cut in their salaries.
Peru will also take actions to express Peru’s support to President Correa and contribute to the return of public order.
Peru’s foreign ministry has also expressed, via its Twitter account, that President Garcia has ordered the closure of the Peruvian border with Ecuador, until public order is restored in that neighboring country.
“It is time for the Organization of American States Organization to get involved in this case,” said Garcia, adding that the Peruvian government supports the democratic authority of President Correa.
