Mobile telephone penetration will reach 97 percent of Peru’s population by the end of 2010, telecompaper.com reported Wednesday.
This represents a 17 percentage increase to the 80 percent in 2009, said Elizabeth Galdo, director of regulatory affairs and corporate responsibility at Movistar Peru.
"Peruvian consumers are changing habits. Up to now, they wanted a handset that enabled intensive voice communication,” said Galdo. “Now they opt for a handset with greater data transfer capacity together with voice capabilities."
