Family of missing Peru diplomat demonstrate at Russian embassy

Sergio Del Castillo was last seen leaving a nightclub in Moscow on January 1st.

It has been 34 days since the last time Peruvian Vice Consul in Moscow, Sergio Alonso Del Castillo Cebreros, was last seen alive.

Family and friends demonstrated Thursday outside the Russian Embassy in San Isidro, asking to continue the search.

"Sergio is alive and we hope he will soon appear, but that will only happen if we intensify the search," Sergio Del Castillo, father of the missing diplomat, said.

"I think the Russian police is doing little and I think we should hire a private investigation agency," said Del Castillo.

Del Castillo had a meeting with the foreign minister José Antonio García Belaunde and asked him to hire a private Russian intelligence firm.

The father of the victim also sent the following message to President Alan Garcia: "President Garcia, Sergio is a diplomat who has gone to work for Peru and should not be abandoned in this circumstances. I think it is time for the Peruvian State to hire private investigators."

Sergio Del Castillo was last seen early on January 1 leaving a nightclub in Moscow.
