Brazilian model Sandra Alionço was crowned as 2011’s International Miss Reef this past weekend at the Reef Classic surf championship held at Peru’s Chilca beach, taking home $3,000 in prize money.
The event, which took place on Asia Boulevard, saw nine of South America’s most beautiful women compete for the title. Peruvian representatives included volleyball player Rocío Miranda, model and TV host Korina Rivadeneyra, and this year’s Miss Reef national winner Gianina Luján.
At first it seemed like the Miss Reef International title might stay with the host country, since all three Peruvian women were among the five semifinalists. Miranda and Rivadeneyra made it into the final round along with Alionço, where they tied for second place before the judges declared Alionço as the woman with the best “derrière” in South America.
An excited Alionço hugged one lucky judge and received her crown of flowers and check prize from 2010’s Miss Reef International winner, Vanessa Tello.
