Peru’s exports of white goods will total $9.7 million in 2011, a 38.1 percent increase compared to a previous year, consulting firm Maximixe estimated Wednesday.
The firm reported that such result will be driven by a surging demand from main business partners such as Ecuador, Colombia, and Chile, registering a 3.5 percent, 4 percent and 6 percent growth rate in 2011, respectively, according to the projections of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (Cepal).
Likewise, the number of exported units is expected to jump 24.1 percent to 58, mainly refrigerators, kitchens and freezers.
In 2010, a total of 46,900 units of white goods were exported, five percent more than 2009.
The main electrical appliances exported were kitchens (53.6 percent of the total exported), refrigerators (28.9 percent) and freezers (16.7 percent).
