SABMiller will pay $6 billion to get control over Bavaria

Bavaria, Colombia’s largest brewery and market leader in Ecuador, Panama, Peru and Colombia itself, has finally reached an agreement with SABMiller after more than one year of negotiations. SABMiller, the South African brewery will pay $6 billion to obtain a controlling interest in Bavaria and this way enter the attractive and growing South American beer market.

But the introduction of SABMiller in South America won’t be easy, as it will have to face InBev, Latin America’s largest brewery based in Brazil, who also at the moment is entering several new markets with their brand “Brahma”.

Bavaria and SABMiller are still negotiating some details, but sources say that transaction might be officially announced later tonight.
