A photograph taken by Peruvian Mario Testino adorns the program at today’s Royal Wedding.
The picture appears next to a section of thanks that reads, “The affection that so many people have shown us during our engagement has been incredibly moving, has affected us both deeply. We take this opportunity to sincerely thank everyone for their kindness. “
The photo is the last official photograph taken of Prince William and Kate Middleton before they wed. Testinto made the image during the couple’s official engagement portrait session in London.
In 1997, Testinto published photographs in a similar style of the late Princess Diana, just before her death. With the sale of one print of the iconic Princess, Testino funded the El Salvador clinic in the Pueblo Nuevo District in Chincha, Perú. This clinic was built for children with Tuberculosis in the area affected by the 8.0 earthquake that hit the Peruvian coast in August 2007.
Testino was born in Lima in 1954. In 1976 he moved to London to pursue photography as a career. He has since become one of the world’s most celebrated fashion photographers. His work regularly graces the pages of Vogue, Vanity Fair and V.
