Peru and Japan will sign a free trade agreement May 31 in Tokyo, according to Foreign Minister José Antonio García Belaunde.
Bilateral negotiations to finalize the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) were launched in April 2009 and needed six rounds of work for completion.
The last negotiations were held this past August 18 through 31 in Tokyo.
Peru currently has five existing FTAs (China, United States, Canada, Chile and Singapore) and five more in the process, that include the European Union (EU).
