Peru’s National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur) will hold two international workshops this year to boost sales of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the tourism industry.
Canatur’s president Carlos Canales said Sunday that the events, which seek to connect local SMEs with foreign buyers, will be held in Chile and Argentina between September and November.
"We’ve chosen these two destinations because their distribution channels are not only concentrated on wholesalers but also on SMEs," Canales told Andina.
He added that another key factor to choose Chile and Argentina was the common language, which is of vital importance in a negotiation.
"At present, 80 percent of Peruvian SMEs in the tourism sector are located in provinces, while only 20 percent are based in Lima,” Canales stated.
