Modern Dairy Machines Arrive in Peru


Modern milking equipment from Sweden has arrived in Trujillo, Peru. It is the first such type of equipment to be installed in Peru. The computerized equipment has 24 spaces for the cows to enter and be milked. The computers can also detect diseases and recommended changes in the dietary needs of the cows. The equipment can handles up to 160 milkings in an hour.

Farmers in the region of La Libertad are hoping that such equipment will help them increase their daily production, which presently stands at 250,000 liters of milk a day. The region of Arequipa is the largest producer of milk in Peru with a daily average of more than 1 million liters.
