LAN Airlines Fined

The National Institute for Consume Protection (Indecopi) fined LAN Peru airlines S/. 17,000 for allowing a 70 year old passenger to pass the night in the airport in Santiago, Chile after her flight to Lima was canceled.

In its defense, the airline stated that that day the Lima Airport (Jorge Chávez) was temporarily closed for runway maintenance (factors that were outside of the airline’s control). They further added that there were no vacancy in Santiago hotels and for that reason they were unable to find rooms for passengers.
